The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on Afghanistan next Monday with participation from several regional countries. During the session, Georgette Gagnon, acting head of UNAMA in Afghanistan, is expected to brief the council based on a report by Antonio Guterres. The briefing will cover UNAMA's activities and the political, economic and human rights situation in Afghanistan. The United Nations also said member states have begun discussions on a China-proposed draft resolution to extend UNAMA's mandate.
