On 8 January 2026, eleven khwarij militants affiliated with an Indian proxy group were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Following reports of their presence, security forces conducted intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan District, where troops engaged the khwarij and, after an intense exchange of fire, six militants were neutralised. A second joint operation by Police and security forces took place in Kurram District, resulting in five more khwarij being neutralised. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from those killed, who were reportedly involved in various terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians. Sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored khwarij in the area. The relentless counter-terrorism campaign under Vision Azm e Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
